AUTUMN HAS COME FINALLY.
Fall has finally arrived and nothing can be better than this. My
god, doesn't it look wonderful. The changing colors and the nature at its best
cannot be ever matched. No wonder we have the thanksgiving at the end of the
fall, saluting the best color of the nature, which we are dearly going to miss
for another year. Some of the greatest things one can do is to visit the places
which show the "color of the fall". For those interested in the
chemistry here
is a good site which will help you in understanding how the color changes. For
those interested in enjoying and leave the chemistry to mother nature, this must
be the joyous of all the seasons. There are lot of places to visit and enjoy the
mother nature during this fall. USDA forest service has a good site which gives
you the upto date details and useful links about the various National Forest Fall Foliage Hotspots.

Want to travel....try these wonderful travel bargain sites for
getting the best fares
- Orbitz.com
both hotel and air fare. Good site with very good service.
- Trip.com
.. another good site. Can book both air and hotel.
- Travelocity.com... good site with good
options. Can be rated equal to Orbitz.com.
- Priceline.com ....For those desperados,
this can help you. But remember once accepted cannot be refunded. I
usually stay away.
Plan properly before you go out. It is important since we all know that it
can get pretty expensive and can make your trip unenjoyable, with one thinking
that it is going to be too much to sacrifice for a few moment of enjoyments. We
Americans know that we work harder than ever before in this economy and it
should be a welcome gesture to take a vacation so that the saga of working can
be continued with better attitude.
- There are lots of governement sites where you can find resources about the
regional fall visting places. Don't go with the attitude of "I
will figure it out..". You don't want it to be a thinking and tiresome
journey. Think now and rest later. Some of the governement sites are :-
- USDA
website of National Parks/forests. Be patient with the broken links
in their site.
- Get guides, maps and if possible visit the website to know about the
entrance fee or so. Some of them you can book online and if you use some
particular credit card you get a discount.
- If you are flying use the bargain search engines like Orbitz.com,Trip.com
etc. You can get the ticket a lot cheaper.
- Book hotel online if possible. This will give you good time to research on
the hotel which is the nearest and also allow you to plan you days while
staying.
- Food has always been a major expense. Heavy food in afternoon is going to
spoil your day and expend your valuable time. So, try the fast food during
breakfast /lunch and have a good dinner for a good sleep.
- Try to print out the map directions from some good websites like mapquest.com, mapsonus.com.
There are some more sites from yahoo and search engines but they generally
are not as good as mapquest or mapsonus. Better yet, if you have a laptop or
pocket PC's, try the software "Street
Maps & Vacation Planner " (item no.758001).
- Finally, make sure you have all the bills arranged. Take advice of the
security companies of how to make your home safe and avoid attraction of the
prying-eyes. Some of the advises given by security companies are:-
- Protecting Your Home Without taking a few precautions beforehand,
people leaving on vacation are also leaving a welcome sign out for
burglars. Thieves are trained people to spot likely homes to be
burglarized.
- Suspend all daily deliveries such as newspapers, etc.
- Lock and double check all windows and doors. Don't forget the
garage doors!
- Put all garden tools and children's playthings away and out of
sight.
- To give an appearance of someone at home, keep a light on a timer.
- Also have your yard taken care of while you are gone.
- Give a trusted neighbor the keys to your house, telling them you
will be gone. Ask them to make periodic checks and to watch for
strange occurrences.
Alright then, best of luck on the vacation. I know this is not a complete
list but hope this helps in some way before you go out for vacation. Hope you
have a good fall viewing.
